Is
the SA a Registered Charity?
No
- but this is constantly under review.
Why
/ Why not?
Following
a discussion with the Inland Revenue, the Steering Group
has decided not to become a registered Charity due to the
amount of money that would be in the accounts at any one
time and because money is distributed quickly through donations,
there would not be enough to claim much tax relief back. "Gift
aid " is really only worthwhile pursuing when you
receive a significant donation from an individual or company
and therefore not suited for the types of donations the
TAMB Sunshine Appeal receives.
Who
has access to the funds?
The
cheque book requires 2 signatures from the following 3
steering group members - Mick Carr, Robert Cruden or Andy
Gray.
Have
the Sunshine Appeal approached the SFA or other official
organisations for help with funding, marketing etc?
Iain
Black and Ruary had an informal discussion with the SFA.
In addition representatives of the SFA attended the last presentation in Denmark.
How
is the money allocated to projects?
By
discussing ideas via the e-mail group and coming up with
a plan and an agreed amount, depending on funds at the
time. It would be impossible to embark on a project like
the one in Lithuania, every time we travelled abroad. So
there may be just a cash donation to a charity or organisation
involving children
Is
it only at AWAY games, the Sunshine Appeal makes a donation?
At
present yes as this was the original concept of the Appeal.
Discussions about donating within Scotland have taken place
but it is felt it would be impossible to decide which charity
or organisation should receive a "home" donation.
There are several Tartan Army Clubs which fund raise substantial
amounts for their local hospitals and charities and currently
the Sunshine Appeal concerns itself with the "away" countries.
This is however under regular review and a yearly donation
within Scotland is under consideration.
How
Can I Help?
By regularly visiting the Tartan Army message board or this website, you will
be able to find out what is going on and involve yourself be it by buying merchandise,
donating money or goods or any other fund raising activity that is currently
in motion. Telling your friends and colleagues about the Sunshine Appeal is
a great way to help too. See the thanks page for an indication of the many
ways people have contributed.
My
company donates to charities - is there any "bumf" you
can give me to pass on?
Because
at this moment we are not an official charity, you may
find that your company cannot donate to us, however we
can send you a donation request on an official Sunshine
Appeal headed letter if this would meet your companies
guidelines. Any other information we can pass on, is
also available on this website.
Can
I donate regularly via Standing Order?
Yes,
if this is a way in which you would like to contribute.
We would provide you with the details and you would have to take the information
to your own bank. You could start and end this arrangement to suit your needs.
How
do I send in a donation?
Easy, just write out a cheque made payable to 'TAMB Sunshine Appeal' and send
it to:
